Scam phone calls are reported almost every day. Scammers try to get patients to reveal personal information or credit card numbers. Encourage patients to be on the lookout for:
- Callers who claim to be from Augusta Health, and ask questions about recent visits in order to sell products like wheelchairs or walkers.
- Callers who claim you must give them credit or insurance card information, in order to continue to use Augusta Health services.
- Callers who claim you must send an immediate payment to avoid reports to a credit agency, but cannot give you information on your Augusta Health account – like balance owed, or amount due.
Report scam calls to the compliance office at 540-245-7455, or message Scott Jones at sjones1@augustahealth.com. If you prefer to make an anonymous report you can do so at the Compliance Hotline at 855-298-5598, or at www.augustahealth.ethicspoint.com
